What is Communcation?

The person I think of is my aunt Leola who is a great public speaker. She gives great eye contact with the people that she is talking too. She also has research on whatever she is talking about. When I hear her communicate with people she demonstrate the principle of strive to understand and respect other communicators before evaluating and responding to their message”.  I would love to model the principle advocate sharing information, opinions, and feelings when facing significant choices while also respecting privacy and confidentiality. As educator we are faced with helping children and families and still respecting their confidentiality.

  2. Hi Chris,
It's great to be in another course together and the topic of communication is such a valuable one. Your aunt sounds like an influential and experienced communicator. How valuable to have someone like that in your family. The principles we read about this week in our course text also impacted me in providing guidance for how we can really make a difference in the lives around us when we understand and practice these principles in our own communication. Looking forward to learning and growing important communication skills over these next weeks ahead.

  3. Christopher-
Great to read another of your posts! Eye contact is something that is so simple, yet people seem so distracted these days it is difficult for them to do. Cell phones and stress have caused the best of us to be less than attentive during a conversation! Your aunt sounds like a model of calm, clear, and effective communication. Thank you for sharing!
